Apple announced today the iPhone apps store which will enable you to download directly to your iPhone or iPod touch applications and games written with there newly released software developer kit.
This could bring iPhone users many new exciting features and a few obnoxious ones ahem "dorky games" ahem...
The one announced today that I am looking most forward to is the AOL ichat application:

"Finally, after so many months, IMing is coming to the iPhone with AOL iChat native for iPhone. No more forced texting! It'll support invisible mode, you'll be able to make your own buddy icons using your stored photos, and you'll swipe to switch between conversations."
Look for the iPhone app store to be released in June along with the iphone software version 2.0 update.
